Kitchen renovations can feel very exciting yet overwhelming. Whether you would like to give your kitchen a little touch up or just go for a full-on renovation, there are many things to consider and keep in mind.
The first thing to consider is what you are willing to spend. Budgets differ dramatically and are always the determining factor for the finishes you choose for your kitchen. Always keep in mind that down the line, especially when taking on bigger renovations, the cost can increase but they can also be a source of return-on-investment for you and your home. For us designers the greatest investments are for cabinetry/ cabinet hardware, countertops and good quality finishes for the fixtures.
We would like to go ahead and introduce to you this year’s trends around kitchen designs. We can start off by saying that there is no “style” to go for. In recent years styles have been merged and kitchen designs have become a collage of different elements from different styles. For us designers this has been a beautiful process to witness. Creativity has no limits and together we can create unique spaces true to what each client loves. New and popular for kitchen designs is the implementation of smart gadgets. Built-in sound systems and/or USB ports and/or integrated LED lighting are fun gadgets but also very practical ones, perfect for kitchens. Another “techy” trend for kitchens is to implement more concealed storage. Utilizing things such as appliance garages to keep kitchens crisp and clutter-free is one of many of these modern, “tech” inspired ideas. Our motto is: “Why have beautiful countertops if they are always full of stuff?”
For millions of people the kitchen is the heart of the home and so it makes sense that there is a strong demand for one’s dream kitchen space. Kitchens have evolved to make living and cooking as efficient and closely knit as possible while looking aesthetically impeccable. As the clear drawn line between kitchen and dining/living space fades, kitchen designs have grown to become a piece of design of their own with easy to hide practical elements needed. Make use of bespoke pantries and larders, kitchen islands, benches and more to keep a practical yet beautiful approach to kitchens.
Last but not least it is a must to mention that single-slab splashbacks have become a must-have in most designer homes. We designers now take advantage of splashbacks to create real focal points in kitchens. Similar to how you would paint walls or add wallpapers to create a feature element in a space, kitchen splashbacks nowadays are the perfect way to implement similar features in your kitchen. Elegant and simple, a single slab is not only practical to clean and stunning but also offers a beautiful and individualized accent piece to any kitchen.
